The first round of inter-religious dialogue between Islam and Hinduism in New Delhi/9

The concept of spirituality is the same to all the mankind

The Head of Iranian Council of Religion Researchers said "The meaning and concept of spirituality, is the same to all the mankind despite the differences in their perception".

According to the Public Relations Office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Mohammad Javad Sahebi, The Head of Iranian Council of Religion Researchers, in his speech on the second day of the first round of inter-religious dialogue between Islam and Hinduism with the topic of "Spirituality and tranquility, Religious gifts for a tense world" said: " The meaning and concept of spirituality, is the same to all the mankind despite the differences in their perception", said The Head of Iranian Council of Religion Researchers."

He added: "Spiritual perspective is an insight that goes beyond the surface of words, objects and the materialistic world and breaches into the deeper layers of the world, and brings out the sublime truth. This state of mind, which varies from one to another, is sometimes linked with a moral percept or with the creator of the universe, which goes on to infinity."

Sahebi then stressed: "Spiritual universe is a collection of sacred matters, moral and mystical values that are far from the complications and limitations of the materialistic world."

He continued: "The materialistic world, with its diversity and attractions, may manifest a limited, tedious, and sometimes problematic world. The challenge of humans caused by the ferocious nature, in addition to his physical, mental, psychological disabilities, result in sickness, infirmity and fear. Therefore, he finds the solution in going beyond the materialistic world to escape these complications."

The Head of Iranian Council of Religion Researchers, then, pointed out that humans have learned from experience that the materialistic world, in addition to its limitations and disasters, is transitory, he then mentioned: "That is why he is constantly searching for a continuous and endless world. This search can be exploited using the materialistic tools and the natural world. So this world is also an opportunity to achieve that eternal life, which, according to the great prominent Islamic scholars, "This lowly world is a garden to the afterlife."

He continued: "It seems that the concept of "Karma" in Hinduism has a quite similar meaning to the above-mentioned statement, Thus, the proverb of "you sow, so you shall reap" Is a doctrine that although can be found by trial and error, but will be easier if guided by the religions. Of course, this connection of materiality and spirituality is two-sided, as this materialistic world is also mysterious and implies that it is itself the result of that spiritual world; a nature possessing objects and phenomena adorned with an intrinsic order, a fact that maybe In the Hindu religion it is referred to as "Dharma".

He added: "So religion, though without spirituality, is the shallow surface of the nucleus, but it can also be called the "Kish", which is a dry and unconventional ritual. Belief in conjunction with foolishness and superficiality, a religious disregard for the sensible world which is sometimes rooted in superstitions, sometimes linked to materiality, and creates fanaticism and violence, that spread them in universe."

Sahebi continued: "Therefore, in a world where science and materialistic intellect have developed mechanics and modern industry in order to escape spirituality, along with great presents such as: power, speed and wealth and moral, psychological and environmental crises have become mankinds main concern As such, there is alternative solution but to turn to spirituality in order to escape the horrific consequences of those phenomena. Therefore, finding a common concept for the spirituality of all religions can bring people closer to peace and security.
